Hunt & Gather | Kalahari
Live in the Kalahari desert for 10 days with the San people, direct descendants of the world’s first humans — our ancestors. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a culture that has survived unbroken for at least 200,000 years; they, if anyone, know what it means to live in balance with each other, with nature, and with ourselves.
Our goals are many. We are committed to supporting the San in their efforts to revitalize their ancient traditions, which are currently under threat from the incessant pressure of “progress” in the region. We are also committed to learning a more sapient way of being, to gain deeper insight into what it might mean to truly thrive as a species. To anyone interested in participating we require curiosity, humility, and commitment to engaging as ethically as possible with both the people and the land of the Kalahari.
Groups are extremely small and sometimes quite intimate; we have to talk things over in some depth to make sure we’re a good fit. The price shown here is to reserve your spot. Please don’t make a reservation without contacting us first.
We are developing this project in collaboration with the non-profit Sapient. You can find more info here or get in touch if you’re interested.
